The Soldier and the Son: Mapping British Army Pedagogy to Divine Revelation

It is fascinating to see how the "Earth School" utilises the same pedagogy I encountered during myten years as an electronics technician in the British Army.
The EDIP (Explanation, Demonstration, Imitation, Practice) principle is the gold standard for military instruction, designed to move a soldier from total ignorance to reflexive competence. .
1. The Spark: Encounter vs. Explanation
Encounter (ERIC): A direct, visceral experience of the Divine or Truth. It is the moment the "ship’s captain" realises there is a vast ocean beyond the harbour.
Explanation (EDIP): The conceptual framework. This provides the vocabulary for the encounter. Just as science uses "words" (maths) to describe a phenomenon, the explanation gives the mind a way to hold the experience without being overwhelmed by it.
2. The Sight: Revelation vs. Demonstration
Revelation (ERIC): The "Aha!" moment where the scales fall away. It’s the internal click where you see that separation is an illusion.
Demonstration (EDIP): This is the "Truth in action." In a craft, you watch a master perform; in faith, this is seeing the Christ-principle (Truth) lived out. It moves the concept from a theory in a book to a visible reality.
3. The Mirror: Identity vs. Imitation
Identity (ERIC): This is the acceptance of your Divine Sonship. You stop seeing yourself as a student and start seeing yourself as a reflection of the Creator.
Imitation (EDIP): In mastery, you begin by mimicking the master’s movements.
You "put on" the persona. Paul’s "imitate me as I imitate Christ" fits here perfectly. You are essentially "trying on" your true identity until the awkwardness of the "lie of separation" fades away.
4. The Purpose: Calling vs. Practice
Calling (ERIC): The outward expression of your internal state. It is the "fruit of the spirit" in motion. Your life becomes a "Content Creation" mission of unconditional love.
Practice (EDIP): This is the lifelong process of Sanctification. It is the daily work of dismantling the old programming. Just as a musician never stops practising even after they become a virtuoso, the "son" never stops living in the moment, for the practice is the calling.
The Synergy
When you overlay these, you see that spiritual growth isn't a mystical accident; it follows a rigorous, logical progression. The "Divine School" uses the same pedagogy as the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
The first sequence (ERIC) is the Ontological path (Who you are), while the second (EDIP) is the Epistemological path (How you know). When they align, the "separation" between your spiritual belief and your physical reality disappears.
