Checking the Engine: Is it a Lack of Process or a Lack of Purpose?
The productivity world is obsessed with the "lack of systems" trope. We are told that if we struggle to complete a task, we simply haven't hacked our habits or built a robust enough workflow. We are treated like faulty machines requiring a software update.
While some people may indeed benefit from a better structure, I believe we are missing the mark by jumping straight to the solution. Before you reach for a new app or a habit tracker, you must first stop and examine the resistance. Usually, it isn't a mechanical failure; it is a lack of purpose.
The Myth of Forced Efficiency
The reality is that when you are truly invested in something, the distance between desire and action collapses. You don't need a system to move your hand out of a fire. You don't need a habit-tracking app to remember to eat your favourite flavour of ice cream. In those moments, you are a natural being following instinct without judgment.
The moment you find yourself needing to "systemise" making yourself do something, you have entered a state of internal friction. You are trying to force a version of yourself to perform. But before you reach for the latest time-management hack, you must first answer: Why do you need forcing in the first place?
Systems vs. Soul-Level Alignment
If you are the Captain of your ship or the Editor of your movie, and you find yourself constantly refusing to film a scene, the problem isn't the camera equipment. It’s the script.
Systems are just the tracks for the train. They are perfectly functional, but they are utterly useless if the engine has no fire. In our context, Purpose is the fire.
Systems are maintenance tools for managing the mundane.
Purpose is the "Why" that drives creation and being.
When we over-systemise, we often treat ourselves as objects to be managed rather than subjects to be lived through. If a task feels like a "should"—a remnant of a "respectable" image or a duty to please an external authority—the soul will naturally rebel. That rebellion isn't a failure of your system; it is a signal of your authenticity.
Examining the Investment
Instead of asking, "How can I get this done?" we should be asking, "What am I actually invested in right now?" If your "Why" is missing, you are likely suffering from a misalignment of purpose. You are essentially echarle mucha crema a tus tacos—putting a lot of effort and embellishment into a meal you aren't even hungry for.
Recognising the perfection in that "stuckness" allows you to see it not as a failure, but as a moment of clarity. If you aren't doing the task, perhaps you are invested in a subconscious protest against being "controlled," even by your own self-judgment.
Living as a Natural Being
Trials are blessings, and even the trial of "procrastination" is a divine feedback loop. It is a signal that your current path may not be in alignment with your Truth or your current "scene."
Don't build a better track until you've checked the furnace. If there is no heat, perhaps it is because you weren't meant to travel in that direction today. Focus on the Purpose, and you’ll find the Productivity takes care of itself.
I thank God in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour

Graham Charles Gambier Theology | Technical Analysis | Spiritual Ballistics
Born in Birmingham, England, and currently based in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, Graham brings a unique lens to the "Earth School." With ten years of experience as an electronics technician in the British Army, he views spiritual growth not as a moral drama, but as a technical calibration of the soul.
Graham blends a mystical, non-dualistic interpretation of Christianity with the precision of a technician. He believes that "sin" is simply a ballistics error and that our journey toward Divine Sonship requires us to stop judging the "miss" and start adjusting our windage to the Ruach (Spirit).
When he isn’t writing or shadowboxing, Graham is active in the Gateway Gathering PDC, exploring the "perfect schematic" of Truth, Love, and Loving-kindness.
Ready to Reclaim Your Fire?
If you are tired of fighting your own nature and constantly "fixing the tracks" while getting nowhere, it is time to look at the engine. You don't need more discipline; you need to reconnect with your Why.
In our session, we won't just look at your "to-do" list—we will look at your purpose. Let’s examine your script together to ensure your daily actions are a natural expression of your true intent, rather than a forced performance.
